ELDH demands the immediate end of political motivated mass trials in Turkey
Istanbul Bar Association, Executive Board on trial (10 lawyers accused)
The President and the Board of the Istanbul Bar Association were acquitted on 24 February 2014 of the charge of unlawfully influencing the court in the Balyoz (sledgehammer) trial.
Meanwhile prosecution has appealed.
As soon as the Court of Appeal has fixed the date for the first hearing it will be published on this website.
ÇHD Lawyers Trial (22 lawyers accused)
On 6th of March, law no. 6526 entered in force which brought some amendments of the Turkish Code of Criminai Procedure and anti-terror law. The Heavy Penal Courts constituted by anti-terror law article 10th have been abolished. All the case-files that pursued by those Courts going to be distributed to (ordinary-normal) Heavy Penal Courts.
We have just been told that the new Courts will fix another date on the trials which means that the hearing on 8th April will not take place. The new Court will want to examine the case-file for some time.
The remaining 5 defendants, among them the ÇHD President Selçuk KOZAĞAÇLI, have been released from pre-trial detention on 21st March 2014.
The next hearing will be on 11th and 12th November 2014 in the Istanbul Caglayan Court House (not in Silivri). The courthouse is situated in the center of European side of Istanbul. We will keep you updated about possible changes.
KCK Lawyers Trial (46 lawyers accused)
