Report: The Caravana Filipina — a fact-finding mission on extrajudicial killings and other serious human rights violations against legal professionals in the Philippines between 2016 and 2023

The mission investigated numerous cases involving lawyers, judges, and prosecutors who were subjected to harassment, violence, or worse, for carrying out their professional duties.

The Caravana was made possible by a remarkable coalition of 10 legal organizations from across the world: European Association of Lawyers for Democracy and World Human Rights (ELDH), Associació Catalana per a la Defensa dels Drets Human, UIA Institute for the Rule of Law (UIA-IROL) International Bar Association’s Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI), International Observatory for Lawyers in Danger (OIAD), Lawyers for Lawyers (L4L), European Democratic Lawyers (AED), The Day of the Endangered Lawyer Foundation, The Law Society of England and Wales (LSEW), New York City Bar Association

The mission was carried out with crucial local cooperation from the National Union of Peoples’ Lawyers (NUPL), whose dedication on the ground was invaluable throughout the process.
